Minnesota Ties to Mission to Moon

(Learfield News/Undated) — As NASA prepares to send astronauts back toward the Moon tonight (Wednesday) for the first time in more than 50 years, Minnesota plays a key role in the mission.

Critical electronics guiding the Orion spacecraft were developed by Honeywell at its Plymouth facility, where engineers design radiation-hardened technology built to withstand the extremes of deep space.

The University of Minnesota is also contributing through research and training the next generation of aerospace scientists as part of the state’s Space Grant Consortium.

While Artemis II lifts off from Florida, science and engineering from Minnesota are helping send humans back to the Moon.
