NEW ULM SCHOOL BOARD CUTTING NEARLY $2-MILLION TO BUDGET FOR 2026-2027
The New Ulm School Board has approved nearly $2-million in budget cuts for 2026-27. Superintendent Sean Koster said the district has been deficit spending for three years.
Koster said the board looked at cuts across the board and not just one area including custodians, tech support, activities, fine arts and cutting grade sections in Jefferson Elementary and the Washington Learning Center. Admission fees will be raised as will season passes and student activities fees. Koster said that cuts this deep will help stabilize where the district is at. The school board will have a study session Thursday, April 9 at 5 pm and the next board meeting is April 23.
