MN NATIONAL GUARD DEPLOYMENT COSTS MILLIONS
The Minnesota National Guard deployment earlier this year is expected to cost the state more than five million dollars. The executive director of the Minnesota Department of Military Affairs says the final total is still being calculated. Governor Tim Walz activated the Guard during Operation Metro Surge, which ran from January 8th through February 25th. Walz said the deployment was ordered out of an abundance of caution following the killing of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. National Guard members were tasked with protecting lives, preserving property, and supporting the rights of all Minnesotans to assemble peacefully.
