FLOOD WARNING ISSUED FOR MINNESOTA RIVER IN REDWOOD AND RENVILLE COUNTIES
The National Weather Service issued a flood warning for the Minnesota River at Morton which affects Redwood and Renville Counties. Three quarters of an inch of rain fell Monday night over the Minnesota River Basin near Morton. Minor flooding is forecast. The river measured twenty feet at 8 am Tuesday and is expected to reach 22 feet early Friday morning. Flood stage is 21 feet. The Minnesota River at New Ulm measured 796.16 feet at 1:45 pm Tuesday. The river was forecast to crest at 796.9 feet early Tuesday. Flood stage is 800 feet. The New Ulm street department has closed the Minnesota River access at Minnecon Park. The Cottonwood River is forecast to crest at 9.5 feet Wednesday afternoon. Flood stage is 11 feet.
