NEW ULM CROSSWIND RUNWAY PROJECT AWARDED
The New Ulm City Council has awarded the Crosswind Runway project to remove the airport’s current turf crosswind runway with a new turf runway that will create an east-west alignment to improve safety at the airport. Duinick, Inc. was awarded the project for $1.6-million. Currently, the New Ulm Municipal Airport has 94% wind coverage between its two runways. By moving the location of the crosswind runway and giving it an east-west alignment, the airport will have a wind coverage rate of 98%. Aircraft will now be able to safely land at the airport under 98% wind conditions. It will also make it easier for smaller planes to land.
