Dean Anthony Schwagel
Dean Anthony Schwagel, age 75 of Browns Valley, Minnesota, passed away December 4, 2025, at Coteau Des Prairies Hospital in Sisseton, South Dakota.
Visitation for Dean Schwagel will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Browns Valley, MN.
Memorial Mass for Dean Anthony Schwagel will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Browns Valley, MN, with Fr. John Paul Knopik Celebrant.
Burial will follow Mass at Calvary Cemetery, rural Browns Valley, MN.
Lunch will be served at the Browns Valley American Legion following burial.
Dean was born on July 6, 1950, in Browns Valley, Minnesota, to Norbert “Red” Schwagel and Esther Kruger, Dean lived a life full of love, laughter, and purpose. He was known for his support for family and friends, his sense of humor, and his desire to restore vehicles. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and laughter that will be remembered by everyone whose lives he graced. Many cherished memories were also made during the years that he owned and ran the Colosseum Dance Hall in Browns Valley.
Dean is survived by his wife: Mary Schwagel; his daughter: Crystal (Adam) Mack of Centennial, CO; his son: Francis (Karyn) Schwagel of Pinehurst, NC; grandchildren: Veronica, Liberty, Ella, and Kathryn: sisters: Dianne LaFountaine and Debra (Irvan) Frie; and brothers: Leon and Roger (Maureen) Schwagel; as well as many other loving relatives and friends.
Dean is preceded in death by his parents: Norbert “Red” and Esther Schwagel; in-laws: Francis “Joe” and Martha Blake; brothers: David, Thomas and Kenneth Schwagel; sisters-in-law: Judy, Sandy, and Kathy; nephew: Robert Krensing III; and great-nephew: Tanner Schwagel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Dean’s honor to the William Krensing Post 58 American Legion, where he and Mary have shared some great memories.
Arrangements are with Bainbridge Funeral Home in Wheaton, MN.
