Boston salvages one game vs Twins
(Minneapolis, MN/Learfield News) — The Minnesota Twins dropped the final game of a three-game series to the Boston Red Sox at Target Field yesterday 9-5. Twins leftfielder Austin Martin hit a solo homer in the first inning to give Minnesota a 1-0 lead. The visiting Red Sox then scored the game’s next nine runs. A five-run third inning was helped by two Minnesota errors. The Twins scored four runs in the ninth inning, including a run scored on a Brooks Lee single, giving him an R-B-I in seven straight games. Simeon Woods Richardson took the loss on the mound after throwing five innings and allowing seven runs, six of which were earned. The 11-8 Twins took the series two-games-to-one and are still sitting in first-place in the American League Central Division by one-game over Cleveland. Boston improved to 7-11 on the year. Minnesota is off today and will open a three-game home series tomorrow night against the Cincinnati Reds. First pitch tomorrow night is 7:10 P-M.
