Twins fall to Mets
(Flushing, NY/Learfield News) — The Minnesota Twins lost for a second straight time in New York, falling to the Mets last night 10-8. Twins all-star Joe Ryan allowed seven runs total, but only four were earned in five innings of work. Minnesota trailed 7-3 heading into the eighth inning before catcher Ryan Jeffers powered a grand slam to tie the game at 7-7. New York tallied three runs in the bottom of the eighth to take a 10-7 lead before the Twins notched one in the ninth to pull to within 10-8. Reliever Andrew Morris took the loss. Tristan Gray also homered for the Twins, who dropped to 12-13 on the season. Minnesota is in third place in the A-L Central behind Cleveland and Detroit. The 9-16 Mets have won two in a row after snapping a 12-game losing streak on Wednesday. Minnesota visits Tampa tonight to open a three-game weekend series against the 13-11 Rays. First pitch is 6:10 P-M.
