Twins swept in Tampa
(St. Petersburg, FL/Learfield News) — The Tampa Bay Rays scored all four of their runs in the third inning and held on to beat the Minnesota Twins yesterday, 4-2, completing a three-game series sweep. Twins’ starter Simeon Woods Richardson allowed the four runs, capped off by a two-run homer from Yandy Diaz. Woods Richardson worked four-and-a-third innings and fell to 0-4 on the year. The bullpen worked the rest of the game without allowing a Tampa Bay run. Minnesota’s two runs came on a Brooks Lee homer in the seventh inning. The Twins have dropped nine of their last ten games and are now 12-16 on the season. Third-place Minnesota is still only two-and-a-half games behind first-place Cleveland in the American League Central Division. Tampa Bay improved to 16-11 on the season and sits in second place in the A-L East. Minnesota welcomes Seattle to town to start a three-game series tonight at Target Field. First pitch is 6:40 P-M.
