CHARGES FILED IN FATAL MANKATO SHOOTING
Charges have been filed against the Fairmont man accused in the shooting death of a man Sunday in Mankato. 44-year-old Joseph Bulfer is charged with one count of second-degree murder , one count of attempted murder as well as two counts of assault and three counts of burglary. Court documents say that Bulfer broke into the home of his ex-girlfriend 37-year-old Rosalyn Rode Sunday and shot her boyfriend 52-year-old Joshua Robert Downey several times. Documents say Bulfer then attacked Rode with a rifle, forced her into a bathtub and blamed her for the attack. Rode told investigators that she and Bulfer had broken up in December and that he couldn’t handle her dating Downey. Authorities say they found around 20 shell casings in the bedroom. Rode suffered numerous injuries including a collapsed lung, several broken ribs and contusions to her head and body.
