Wild can’t hold lead, go down 1-0 vs Avs

(Denver, CO/Learfield News) — The Colorado Avalanche scored five of the final six goals to beat the Minnesota Wild 9-6 in Game One of their best-of-seven, second-round series in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. After falling behind 3-0 to open the game, the Wild poured it on and actually took a 5-4 lead late in the second when Marcus Foligno scored shorthanded. But Colorado responded with a Devon Toews goal just 1:09 later and then sprinted to the win from there with four more goals in the third. Minnesota got goals from six different scorers, but Jesper Wallstedt suffered the loss with 34 saves on 42 shots. Quinn Hughes led the way for the Wild with three points on almost 29 minutes of ice time. On the injury front, both center Joel Eriksson Ek and Jonas Brodin have been ruled out for the first two games of the series. Game 2 is Tuesday night at Ball Arena with a 7 P-M puck drop.
