37th annual Lefse Dagen set for May 16 at Starbuck Depot

The 37th annual Lefse Dagen, or Lefse Day, celebration will be held Saturday, May 16, at the historic Starbuck Depot from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., rain or shine.

The free event comes just ahead of Syttende Mai, Norway’s Constitution Day, and will feature Scandinavian food, music, history, and family activities.

Entertainment begins with Myron’s Polka Datters at 10 a.m., followed by the Cheese Bots at approximately 11:30 a.m. Visitors will also have the opportunity to roll their own lefse. Packages of lefse will be available for purchase, along with a Scandinavian-style lunch menu featuring lefse, rømmegrøt, varmpølse, and Sloppy Joes.

The historic depot, caboose, and other buildings will be open for viewing, with memorabilia displays highlighting the early days of rail and the Starbuck community. The event will also feature the Lefse Hall of Fame, a Viking long boat replica, and the new Starbuck Depot sign.
