Ober throws a “Maddux”, Twins win
The Minnesota Twins got a needed lift Tuesday night, beating the Miami Marlins 3-0 at Target Field. Bailey Ober threw the first complete-game shutout of his career, and Byron Buxton added a steal of home in the win. Ober needed only 89 pitches in the win, meaning he threw a “Maddux Shutout”. That phrase means the pitcher needed less than 100 pitches for the Shutout…named after former Pitcher Greg Maddux, who had 13 such shutouts in his career. The Twins and Marlins continue the series tonight in Minneapolis, with first pitch set for 6:40 p.m. Central.
