Search Resumes for Missing Kayaker in Kandiyohi Co

Search efforts will resume today (Monday) after a kayaker was reported missing on a northern Kandiyohi County Lake Sunday morning.

At just after 10:30am, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an overdue kayaker on Nest Lake.

Deputies learned that on Saturday evening at about 11:30, a 39-year-old man from Overland Park, Kansas had left alone in a kayak from his vacation rental on the south side of Nest Lake and failed to return.

His kayak was located by deputies at 1:15pm Sunday.

Authorities say the west Nest Lake access off of County Road 9 is closed to accommodate search and rescue personnel.
