USDA OPENS ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR SPECIALTY CROP GROWERS

The U.S. Department of Agriculture is opening enrollment for a new financial assistance program aimed at specialty crop growers impacted by rising costs and export market disruptions. The USDA says it will distribute $1.625 billion through the Assistance for Specialty Crops Farmers program. Eligible producers can begin submitting pre-filled applications today using a Login.gov account, while in-person enrollment through local Farm Service Agency offices begins June 8th. The application deadline is August 7th. Officials say the payments are designed to help producers cover production and marketing expenses tied to challenges during the 2025 growing season.
