Morris “Wayne” Adkins, age 67, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026.

Wayne was born on November 3, 1958, to Gordon Wayne Adkins and Isla Mae Dokken in San Luis Obispo, California. Growing up alongside his brother, Scott, Wayne’s family moved frequently due to his father’s service in the United States Air Force. Inspired by both his father and stepfather, Wayne followed in their footsteps and enlisted in the Air Force before graduating high school, completing his schooling during his service.

Wayne proudly served his country 12 years, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant before his honorable discharge.

Throughout his life, he worked tirelessly in a variety of roles, including working on a turkey farm and apple orchard, with most of his career spent driving trucks. No matter the job, Wayne was known for his strong work ethic and dedication.

In 1997, while working at Rademacher’s in Jordan, Minnesota, Wayne met the love of his life, Dawn. They were married in July 1999 and built a life centered on family, love, and laughter. Following Dawn’s passing in 2004, Wayne devoted himself to raising his children, ensuring they always knew that family came first.

Wayne was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and spending time in nature. He was deeply family-oriented and treasured every opportunity to spend time with his children and grandchildren. As a Boy Scout leader, he enjoyed mentoring young people and teaching valuable life skills.

Wayne was incredibly proud of all his children and their accomplishments and often joked that one of his greatest achievements was that “none of them have ever been to jail.” His quick wit, sense of humor, and ability to make others laugh were among his most cherished qualities.

In 2016, Wayne received a lung transplant that gave him ten more years with the people he loved. Through every challenge, he maintained a positive outlook and never lost his sense of humor. Whether making nurses laugh during appointments or finding a joke in difficult circumstances, Wayne’s resilience and spirit left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dawn; his parents, Gordon Wayne Adkins and Ila Mae (Lee) Winslow; and his brother, William “Scott” Adkins.

He is survived by his children, Nickolas Adkins, Tawnya (Taylor) Weber, Daniel Adkins, Rebekah (Kyle) Krueger, Matthew Adkins, and Michael Adkins; his adopted son, Sheldon Seifert; grandchildren Marlie, Mason, Jayden, Jackson, and Maxwell; his mother- and father-in-law, Anita and David Worm; his faithful furry companion, Lego; and many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.

Wayne will be remembered for his service, his humor, his unwavering love for family, and his ability to find joy in life’s simplest moments.
