Wright County Drowning

Authorities say an 18-year-old from Watkins drowned while fishing on a Wright County lake Monday night.

The Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Cameron Mertens.

At just before 8:30pm, deputies responded to Pleasant Lake and discovered an overturned kayak near the public access.

Witnesses said Mertens fell from the kayak while fishing about 75 to 100 yards from the dock.

His body was located by dive team members from the Sheriff’s Office.
