Robben “Chief” Rux

Robben “Chief” Rux of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the age of 68.

Robben Lynn “Chief” Rux was born on October 15, 1957, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. He grew up in St. Hilaire, MN with his parents, Elaine and Wayne Kruse and his siblings, Randy, Rick, Ranae, Penny, and Jon. Chief graduated from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls.

Throughout his life, Chief worked hard and held many roles that reflected his dedication and strong work ethic. He worked at Cenex on 8th Street, delivering propane and anhydrous through St. Hilaire Supply. He also drove Northland Taxi in Thief River Falls for Dave and JoAnn Nelson, served as a supervisor at 7 Clans Casino, and later worked in the automotive department at Walmart. Chief eventually retired due to health complications.

Rob never had much but was rich in all the things that matter. He was such a giving man. He could never pass up a good rummage sale, and no one visited him without being given a gift or trinket. His love language was gift giving. Rob lived through many years of dialysis and health issues, but he never complained. He always had a smile on his face and a story to tell. Rob was a very social man; he never met a stranger. He always looked forward to the fair just to talk to the people. He loved people and he loved life. A favorite pastime for Rob was trips with his dad to Rick’s cabin for fishing. Back in the day, before his health issues, Rob enjoyed dancing with the ladies, he was a great dancer. He loved to charm the ladies (young and old) with every chance he got. He was such a flirt.

Rob was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He loved them with his whole heart.

Rob lived out his final years very happy with the Green Terrace Community of friends who became family to him and his beloved Dog Dukie.

Chief is survived by his son Robby (Alana) Rux of Thief River Falls; grandchildren, Christopher Rux, Keagan Rux, and Marek Rux; his father Wayne Kruse; siblings Rick (Stephanie), Rob, Penny (Jimmy), and Jon; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
