Firefighters Making Progress on Northern Minnesota Wildfires

Firefighters continue gaining ground on three lightning-sparked wildfires in northeastern Minnesota. The Tiger Fire near the Canadian border east of Crane Lake is now 100 percent contained at one acre, with crews expected to wrap up operations within the next day. The nearby Loon Fire has grown to 16 acres following updated mapping and is now 50 percent contained as firefighters continue mop-up efforts. Meanwhile, the Buck Fire north of Tower remains small at about a quarter-acre. Rain and thunderstorms have limited aircraft access, but officials say the weather could help suppress the blaze naturally. There are currently no closures tied to the fires, although the public is urged to stay away from active fire areas and keep drones grounded.
