Twins Take First Game With Rangers

Twins designated hitter Josh Bell hit a three-run homer in the top of the first inning, and Minnesota never trailed in a 4-2 win at Texas last night. Byron Buxton added a solo shot in the sixth inning to push his season total to 23 home runs. The Rangers scored both of their runs on a Joc Peterson long ball in the third inning. The 34-40 Twins have won three of their last four games and remain in third place in the American League Central Division. Minnesota trails first-place Chicago and Cleveland by six games. The 35-37 Rangers are in third place in the A-L West, just a game-and-a-half out of first place. Game two of the three-game series is tonight at 7:05 P-M. Coverage begins at 6:30pm on KNUJ and SAM 107.3.
