SURVEY: 61.8% of Non-Swimmers in America Are Women

A new survey from Poolonomics highlights a significant gender gap in swimming proficiency, revealing that 61.8% of American adults who cannot swim are women.

According to Poolonomics, the study surveyed 3,000 adults across all 50 states, finding that nearly one in six adults lack swimming skills. The survey also shows that coastal states do not necessarily have a lower percentage of non-swimmers compared to inland states.

Young adults aged 18 to 24 and seniors aged 55 and older were identified as the most at-risk groups. Poolonomics emphasizes the need for targeted swimming education and water safety programs to address these disparities and improve swimming proficiency among women. Further research is needed to understand the factors contributing to this significant gender gap.
