Lloyd Carl Svoboda
Lloyd Carl Svoboda, age 85 of rural New Prague left the loving arms of his family to join God in eternal life on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Central Healthcare of Le Center. Wake to be held on Thursday, June 6th from 4-7 pm at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery; funeral to be held on Friday, June 7th at 11:00 at St. John Lutheran Church in Montgomery.
Lloyd was born on July 27, 1938 to Joseph and Elizabeth (Schultz) Svoboda in New Prague, Minnesota. He was a graduate of Montgomery High School. Lloyd was united in marriage on August 20, 1960 to Peggy Schultz at Le Center Methodist Church. Lloyd was a lifelong dairy farmer. He was active in the surrounding communities and served as Supervisor on the Derrynane Township Board, Commissioner on the Le Center Fire and Ambulance and the Rural Fire Board for the New Prague Fire Department for 40 years. He was a member of the American Dairy Association Outstanding Young Farmer, served on the LeSueur Country and State Dairy Herd Improvement Association Boards, Future Farmers of America, Young Farmers Organization sponsored by the Montgomery Area Jayees and Le Sueur County Premier Dairyman.
Lloyd was an avid sportsman hunting and fishing his entire life, including trips to the Vollmar’s Thunderbird Resort in Canada for over 25 years. He and Peggy frequently hosted large events for Harvestore, family and friend reunions and the activities of their children. He was a talented welder making everything from tractor trailers to fish house frames.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Peggy; children, Jeff of Jordan, Jenn (Rich) Fogle of Seattle, Washington and Joy (Kurt Dvorak) of Montgomery; sister, Bernice Bohnsack (Wayne) of California; step-siblings Patsy Tiede Lande and Leroy Tiede; nieces, Brenda Hansen of California and Ruth Hoefs of Le Center, Kathy Thun of Belle Plaine and Laurie Kolstad of Morristown; grandsons Benjamin, Nathan (Lisa), Jacob (Leah) and Lukas (MarLee) Kubinski all of for whom he was a fantastic role model; step-grandchildren Kyle Dvorak and Genevieve (Chris) Dvorak Stockwell; great-grandchildren Sofia, Madison, Milo, Rurik, Sitrik, and Tytin Kubinski, Stella, Nora and Jace Ferch and Adler Stockwell.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents, his step-father Bill Tiede; brother and sister-in-law, Reuben and Carol Svoboda; brother-in-law and wife Larry and Janet Schultz; nephews, Bruce Bohnsack and Wayne Svoboda, and his farming partner Ed Schmidt.
