Ryan Jeffers homers twice as Twins rally for 7-6 victory over Royals

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – In a thrilling showdown on Thursday, the Minnesota Twins staged a remarkable comeback against the Kansas City Royals, clinching a 7-6 victory. Ryan Jeffers emerged as the hero, smashing two homers, while Carlos Correa sealed the deal with a clutch two-out, bases-clearing triple in the sixth inning.

The turning point came when reliever Chris Stratton faced a tense moment, allowing Max Kepler’s crucial RBI single and loading the bases with two outs. That’s when Correa stepped up, driving a 3-1 fastball down the right-field line, breaking the 4-4 tie with his second triple of the season.

Jeffers’ contribution was pivotal, his first home run halving the Royals’ lead in the fourth inning. This marked a resurgence for Jeffers, who had struggled since his previous homer on May 14th.

Caleb Thielbar secured the win for the Twins, capping off a series where they took three out of four games. Their remarkable turnaround from a shaky start to the season sees them leading the American League with a 24-12 record since then.

Despite strong performances from Vinnie Pasquantino and MJ Melendez, the Royals fell short. Pasquantino’s early home run and Melendez’s contributions weren’t enough to withstand the Twins’ relentless comeback.

Scheduled starter Brady Singer’s absence due to illness forced Daniel Lynch IV into the spotlight. Despite his efforts, including allowing both of Jeffers’ homers, the Royals couldn’t hold off the Twins’ surge.

Looking ahead, the Royals will face the Padres in a three-game series, with Michael Wacha taking the mound. Meanwhile, the Twins embark on a challenging nine-game road trip, starting with a matchup against the Houston Astros, featuring Pablo López on the mound.
