RAIN INCREASING MOSQUITO ACTIVITY
Mosquito numbers are above the ten-year average in Minnesota and activity continues to rise. Alex Carlson of the Metropolitan Mosquito Control District says the rain we’ve had leads to more hatching. He says technicians are finding dippers full of larvae meaning those mosquitoes will be coming out of the water in a week or so. Carlson encourages you to check anything that can hold water on your property and make sure they are empty as those things can become mosquito habitat. Carlson says there is more mosquito activity in rural and wooded areas of the state.
