Carol Roisland

Carol Rae Roisland, 71, of Oklee, MN, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at
her residence.

Visitation will be on Friday, June 14, 2024, from 5-7PM with a prayer service at 6:30PM at
Salem Lutheran Church, Oklee, MN.
Funeral service will be on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Salem Lutheran Church,
Oklee, MN. Burial will be at a later date.

On December 4, 1952, Carol was born to Osmund and Marie (Johnson) Hofstad in Thief River
Falls, MN. She was baptized, confirmed, and married at Salem Lutheran Church, Oklee, MN.
She attended Oklee Public School and graduated from Oklee High School in 1970. She was
married to Kerry Roisland on June 26, 1971.

Carol began working as a seamstress at Larson’s Furniture in Grand Forks, ND until they
closed. She then continued working as a seamstress at Goodman’s Furniture in Grand Forks,
ND. After they closed, she began her own business called “Carol’s Custom Drapery” working
out of her home to be with Kelsey. Around 2005, she closed her business and started working
at JCPenney in the drapery department. Her husband, Kerry, passed away on December 10,
2010. Shortly after, in 2012, she moved to Fort Walton Beach, Florida to be closer to her
brother, Orlando, and continued to work at JCPenney there. She returned to Grand Forks in
2013 and retired from JCPenney around 2018. She returned home to Oklee in 2021 and began
her retirement lifestyle.

Carol enjoyed reading romance and mystery novels, watching Animal Planet and America’s
Funniest Home Videos, staying busy mending clothes for the community, and watching birds
from her living room window. She enjoyed going to visit her daughter, son-in-law, and four
grandchildren in North Carolina as well as her siblings and other family members in
Minnesota, Louisiana, and Florida.

She is survived by her daughter, Kelsey (Matt) Sigette, Cameron, NC; grandchildren, Addisyn,
Jeremiah, Amelia, and Aurora Sigette; siblings, Leslie (Alice) Hofstad, Plummer, MN, and
Elaine Broker, Grafton, ND; several nephews and nieces.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Kerry Roisland; her parents, Osmund and Marie
Hofstad; siblings, Stanley Hofstad, Orlando “Swede” Hofstad, Lois Westmoreland, Doris
Nelson, Paul Hofstad, and Raymond Hofstad; and her best friend “Buddy” a Chiwawa pug mix.
