All 5 Lynx starters score in double figure to hand the Aces 3rd straight loss, 100-86
LAS VEGAS, NV – In Tuesday night’s showdown, Alanna Smith ignited the court with 18 points, while Kayla McBride orchestrated with 16 points and an impressive eight assists, propelling the Minnesota Lynx to a decisive 100-86 victory over the Las Vegas Aces.
The Lynx showcased their depth as all five starters scored in double figures. Bridget Carleton and Courtney Williams each contributed 15 points, with Napheesa Collier adding 14 points along with six rebounds and six assists.
Las Vegas, now standing at 5-5, faced their third consecutive loss, marking their most challenging start to a season since 2018. Despite a promising start with Alysha Clark, Megan Gustafson, and Kelsey Plum sinking two 3-pointers each in the first quarter, the Aces stumbled, managing only 29 combined points over the subsequent two quarters, trailing 78-60 entering the fourth.
Although the Aces attempted a late resurgence, narrowing Minnesota’s lead to 86-74 with 4:39 remaining, they struggled to find their rhythm, not sinking another field goal until the 1:46 mark.
A’ja Wilson spearheaded Las Vegas’ effort with an impressive 28 points, extending her WNBA record with 20 points or more in 15 consecutive games. Plum contributed 13 points, 11 of which came in the first half, while Jackie Young, battling illness, struggled to make an impact for the second game in a row, tallying single-digit points.
Carleton provided a momentum-shifting moment, sinking a crucial 3-pointer from the corner just before halftime, extending Minnesota’s lead to 59-48.
