Correa’s bat stays hot as Twins beat Oakland

(Minneapolis, MN) — Minnesota shortstop Carlos Correa had another big night as the Twins opened their series against the Oakland Athletics with a 6-2 win last night at Target Field. Correa hit a go-ahead single in the third inning, and then added a two-run home run in the seventh. He was has eight hits in the past two games and has raised his batting average to 28-points in two days. Centerfielder Byron Buxton added three hits and two R-B-I in the victory, while Joe Ryan earned his fifth win by holding Oakland to two runs on three hits in seven innings. The Twins have won four of five and are now 37-32 on the season. Tyler Soderstrom homered in the losing effort for Oakland and Luis Medina was charged with his second loss after allowing four runs on eight hits in five innings. The 26-45 A’s are on a six-game losing streak. Game two of the four-game series is tonight at 7:10 P-M in downtown Minneapolis.
