SIRENS SOUND IN MOUNTAIN LAKE, NO WARNINGS ISSUED

Sirens sounded in Mountain Lake late Tuesday afternoon but no tornado warning had been issued.  Cottonwood County Emergency Management officials released a statement saying storm spotters were watching a storm around 4:30 west of Windom that appeared to be attempting to form a wall cloud, which it did north of Windom.  Some weak rotation was also noted by spotters and confirmed by radar north of Bingham Lake.  Cottonwood County officials say that due to the storm’s direction and because Pow Wow Days were going on in Mountain Lake, the decision was made to sound the outdoor warning sirens around 4:50 pm.  The rotation ended and the storm ended up moving north of Mountain Lake out of the county.
