Lopez leads Twins to win

(Oakland, CA) — Minnesota ace right-hander Pablo Lopez sliced up the Athletics’ lineup as the Twins beat Oakland 3-0 yesterday in California. Lopez earned his seventh win after striking out 14 and allowing just two hits over eight scoreless innings. He took a perfect game into the sixth inning. Byron Buxton opened the scoring with a solo home run in the second, and he added an R-B-I double in the seventh. Griffin Jax picked up his seventh save as the Twins moved up to second place in the A-L Central at 43-35. Minnesota took two of three from the A’s in the series, giving them a 6-1 record in seven games against Oakland this month. Hogan Harris was charged with his first loss after surrendering three runs on five hits in six frames. The A’s have dropped three of four. The Twins are off tonight and will visit Arizona tomorrow night.
