Twins Win Matinee Game, Take Series In Phoenix
(Phoenix, AZ) — The Minnesota Twins jumped out to an 11-run lead and never trailed en route to a 13-6 demolition of the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field Thursday.
Minnesota ended up taking two of the three-games in the series in Phoenix.
Byron Buxton was 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored.
Royce Lewis, Manuel Margot and Jose Miranda each drove in a pair of runs for the Twins.
Starting pitcher David Festa earned his first career win in his first career big league start, despite allowing five runs through five frames.
The Twins have won four of their last five and currently sit second in the AL Central at 45-36.
Arizona second baseman Ketel Marte hit his 17th homer of the season in the setback. Jordan Montgomery was tagged with the loss after being chased off the mound after less than three innings of work.
The D-Backs have lost four of five to slip to 39-42.
Minnesota will visit Seattle tonight (Friday) to start a three-game series.
