Wings beat Lynx 94-88 to end their 11-game losing streak
ARLINGTON, TX – Arike Ogunbowale showcased her prowess with 23 points, sinking five 3-pointers and dishing out nine assists, while seasoned guard Odyssey Sims contributed 18 points in her season debut as the Dallas Wings ended an 11-game losing streak with a 94-88 triumph over the Minnesota Lynx on Thursday.
Dallas, securing their first win since May 26, mounted a remarkable comeback after trailing 45-30 late in the second quarter. They scored 15 unanswered points bridging halftime to tie the game at 45-all early in the third quarter. Monique Billings’ basket with 1:34 remaining in the third finally gave the Wings a 68-67 lead, their first since opening the game 2-1.
Despite Minnesota’s efforts to close the gap to three points late in the fourth quarter, Jacy Sheldon responded with a crucial open 3-pointer, sealing the victory for Dallas.
Sims, who joined the team on a hardship contract just days before, played a pivotal role with nine of her 18 points coming in the final quarter, including two key layups in the last 3:10 of play. Teaira McCowan contributed a double-double performance with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Billings added 14 points to Dallas’ cause. Ogunbowale’s performance marked her 14th game this season scoring over 20 points, while Sims’ efficient 8-of-12 shooting from the field helped the Wings achieve their season-high bench scoring of 36 points.
