Empowering Communities, Celebrating Minnesota Locally

Kathy Ann Beito Death Notice

Kathy Ann Beito, 81, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024 surrounded by faithful daughter Heidi, son-in-law Dean, and grandson Jonah. Kathy was born in Montevideo, MN on August 13, 1942 to Jesse and Lorraine (Ness) Schaller. She graduated from Montevideo Senior High School in 1960. Kathy was married to David Beito from 1967 to 1972. She gave birth to Heidi, her pride and joy, January 9, 1970. Kathy spent most of her life in Montevideo, MN then moved to Duluth, MN, in 1997 to be near her daughter and family.

Kathy worked for nearly 50 years, something she was very proud of. Her early work experiences included working as a switchboard operator in Montevideo as well as the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.  Soon after, she began her career in banking. With no formal training, she worked her way up to Operations Manager at Norwest Bank in Montevideo. In 1985 she left the bank, choosing to eliminate her own position rather than others, and began at the Montevideo Clinic as the Credit Manager. She then moved to Duluth in 1997. She worked in Duluth for 10 years at the Salvation Army running the Money Management Program.

Kathy was selfless and faithful. She trusted God all her life as she was a single woman, working and raising her daughter Heidi. She loved her little family…Heidi, Dean, and Jonah…fiercely. She took such tender care of them as they walked through life, always sacrificing her own needs. Jonah, her grandson, was her pride and joy! She was his constant cheerleader and support.

She was a loyal friend, many times sitting with sick friends or helping them through difficulties. Her favorite part of life was celebrating special events with those she loved. Her legacy was making people feel special, valued, and loved by her many acts of selfless giving. She will be missed by many.

Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Lorraine (Ness) Schaller, her brother, Michael Schaller, and her father, Jesse Schaller. Also, aunts, uncles, a niece, and special friends.

She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Heidi, son-in-law Dean, grandson Jonah, sister Joyce (Howard) Kron, many nieces, nephews, and friends. Also chosen grandchildren Courtney, Nick, Zachary, Kadin Bostrom, and Jesse Fure.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 13, at 11 AM at Duluth Gospel Tabernacle 1515 West Superior St. in Duluth, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior at 10 AM. The Interment will take place on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Benson Road, Montevideo, Minnesota 56265.
