DNR Report Includes Killing of Geese, 5 Year Old Driving an ATV on State Highway

Conservation Officer Coby Fontes in Warroad reports investigating a case last week where several “nuisance” geese were killed for defecating in “less-than-desired locations”.

Fontes says this resulted in enforcement action being taken for taking geese out of season, using lead shot to take waterfowl, use of an unplugged shotgun, wanton waste, and littering.

Meanwhile, Conservation Officer Nick Bruesewitz of Karlstad says he spent time checking anglers on the Red River and Red Lake River. He says angling activity has increased with the enjoyable weather. While on patrol last week he observed a juvenile cross a State Highway in a class II ATV. Upon investigation, the juvenile was 5 years old.

Enforcement action was taken with the parent.
