SUICIDAL MAN ARRESTED IN REDWOOD FALLS

A Belview man is in custody after an incident in Redwood Falls Tuesday morning.  Redwood Falls police say they were called to 240 South Washington Street after receiving information a wanted man was working there.  29-year-old Joshua David Panitzke has outstanding warrants out of Sibley and Hennepin Counties.  His supervisor told him that law enforcement was there and asked him to exit the roof.  Panitzke refused and became agitated with officers went on the roof.  He went to the edge of the roof and threatened to jump off.  The Brown-Lyon-Redwood-Renville Emergency Response Unit’s Negotiator Team was activated and, after several hours, got Panitzke to voluntarily come down from the roof.  He was taken to the CentraCare-Redwood Hospital.  There was no use of force used.  Many organizations assisted including the Redwood and Renville County Sheriff’s Offices, Lower Sioux Police Department, state patrol and the Redwood Falls Fire department.
