Olympic Opening Ceremonies today, Team USA ready

(Paris) — The United States looks to maintain its dominance when the Summer Olympics begin in Paris. The U-S will be looking to top its medal total from the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where Americans took home a Games-best 113 medals. The U-S led the summer medal count for the seventh straight time. Team U-S-A holds the all-time record for a non-boycotted Games after winning 121 medals in Rio in 2016. The first medal events in Paris will take place on Saturday.

(Paris) — The Opening Ceremony at the Paris Olympics will be like never before. For the first time in the history of the Summer Games, the Opening Ceremony will not take place in a stadium, and instead will be held on a river. The parade of athletes will go down the Seine River with around 90 boats carrying each national delegation. The more than 10-thousand athletes will wind their way through the center of Paris and end near the Eiffel Tower. The final part of the event will take place at the Trocadero, including the lighting of the Olympic cauldron. The Opening Ceremony is also expected to take place in front of a record number of fans and spectators, with around 300-thousand expected to attend. Over a billion more people are expected to watch from around the world. The Opening Ceremony will begin at 12:30 P-M today.
