Lori “Erdie” Jean Bohnsack

Lori “Erdie” Jean Bohnsack, age 67 of Belle Plaine, MN died on Thursday, August 1, 2024, in Hinkley, MN. Celebration and Time of Sharing will be on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. ~ 7:00 p.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine, MN.

Erdie was born on January 6, 1957, to her biological Mother, Gretchen Schultz, she was then adopted by Vernon and Sylvia (Heinisch) Schultz. She attended Belle Plaine Schools and graduated from Belle Plaine High School in 1975.

Erdie met the love of her life Fred Bohnsack at a mutual friends New Years Eve party in Dec. of 1979. Erdie gave Fred a New Years kiss and that's what started their lives together. Fred had to go to Washington for work and Erdie was still in MN. Their relationship grew through many phone calls. Erdie ended up joining Fred in WA. After Erdie picked out her own engagement ring they were engaged in July of 1980. They came back to MN to visit family Erdie stayed in MN to plan their wedding while fred had to return to WA for work. Eridie wanted to have a Christmas wedding but after some discussion they decided on a spring wedding. Fred's work schedule was worked out so he would be in MN for their wedding. On April 24, 1981 she married her best friend Frederick Bohnsack at Trinity Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine, MN. Shortly after they perminantly moved back to MN. Together they shared 43 years of marriage and were blessed with 2 daughters and 6 grandkids.

She worked for over 25 years at Otto Drug in Belle Plaine and also worked for many years at Prairie Liquor in Belle Plaine. Some of Erdie’s favorite things to do included playing bingo, watching her family compete in dirt track racing she also loved to travel. One of her favorit places to visit was the north shore in MN. While traveling she also enjoyed visiting various casinos. She enjoyed time with her family, friends and her grandkids the most.

She is survived by her husband Fred. Daughters; Kassandra (Jerome) Nytes of Le Sueur and Kandie (Joshua) Sawatzky of Le Sueur. Grandchildren; Anthony, Kaylee, Leah and Frederick Nytes and Jonathan and Lily Sawatzky. Siblings; Perry (Donna) Oestreich of Belle Plaine, Tracey (Oestreich) Johnson of Belle Plaine, Allen (Jane) Oestreich of New Prague, Mori (Donna) Oestreich of Henderson, Scott (Amanda) Oestreich of Mulberry, Arkansas, Joy (Warren) Harms of Young America and Kay (Shawn) Klein of Watertown. Along with many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Sylvia Schultz, biological mother, Gretchen Carlson. Siblings; Bill (Judy) Schultz, Daniel (Kathy) Schultz; brother, Mori Dean Oestreich and sister Susan Carlson.
