Mamie Tuma
Mamie Tuma, age 92.5 years old, of Northfield, passed away on August 5th 2024.
Mamie Tuma was born December 12, 1931 on the family farm in Webster Township to Frank and Marcella Valek. She was baptized and confirmed at Church of Annunciation, Hazelwood and attended school at Hazelwood and Bethlehem academy. After her education she helped at home until she married Edward Tuma on June 19th, 1951 at Church of Annunciation. They made their home in Hazelwood until 1995. After the death of Eddie in 1989, she moved to New Prague. She spent her final years in the Northfield Retirement Community.
Survived by children, Teresa (Steve) Martin of Northfield, Mike (Missy) of Veseli, Mark of Carver, Paul (Sue) of New Prague, Gloria (Kevin) Marek of Lakeville, Ann (Dan) Friedges of Jordan, Lisa (Conrad) Jorgenson of Lakeville and Jenna (Sharon) of Prior Lake; twenty grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren; siblings, Lawrence (Dolores), Bob Valek; and sister-in-law, Delores Valek.
Preceded in death by her husband, Eddie; her sisters, Elsie (Bob) Sirek and Irene (Leonard) Horejsi; brothers, Jack (Mary Lou), Francis and Ernest; Eddie’s siblings, Joe W. (Emma), Anna (Charlie) Trenda, Jim (Grace), Ceil (Joe S.) Malecha, Monnie (Ted) Jirik and Evelyn.
Mass of Christian burial will be Monday, August 19th, 2:00pm at Church of Annunciation, Hazelwood. Interment will be in Hazelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Bierman, Benson & Langehough Sunday, August 18th from 4-7pm as well as one hour prior to the Mass on Monday at church from 1-2PM
Mamie will be remembered with deep affection and gratitude. Although she is no longer with us, her spirit and legacy will continue to inspire and guide us.
