Patricia Fay (Robinson) Mattson was born on October 12, 1943 to Abraham and Bernice (Hansen) Robinson in Starbuck, Minnesota. She grew up on farm near Farwell with her three siblings and graduated high school with the Glenwood class of 1961. She attended nursing school and worked in both the Stevens County Hospital and the Starbuck Hospital.

On February 20, 1965, Patricia married Rodger Leroy Mattson at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lowry. The two welcomed three children: Matthew, Jolene, and Mark. Upon the arrival of Mark in 1974, Patricia retired from nursing after more than ten years and became a full-time stay-at-home mom and farmer. She liked to joke that “her patients went from being 2-legged to 4-legged.” Patty could do anything in the home or on the farm. She was skilled at crocheting, sewing, cross stitch, stained glass, and wood crafting; as well as milking cows and driving the combine. Patty also enjoyed reading, bird watching, and tending to her flower gardens. She was active in the Covenant Church, was the Sunday school superintendent, 4-H leader, treasurer for the Farwell Cemetery, and a member of the Hoffman-Kensington Booster Club.

One of Patty’s favorite things in life, besides her jewelry, was spending time with her family. She loved getting to be with her grandkids and attending their sporting events. Patty recently started experiencing health complications and was placed on hospice on August 8, 2024. On August 15, 2024, she passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family; she was 80 years old.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband: Rodger Mattson of Farwell, MN; children: Matt (Kerri) Mattson of Farwell, MN, Jolene (Wade) Hoekstra of New London, MN, and Mark (Lori) Mattson of Hancock, MN; fourteen grandchildren: Jacob (Morgan) Drechsel, Zach (Jenna) Mattson, Austin Mattson, Connor Friedl, Eli Mattson, Caitlin Blankhagen (Jon hew Len), Amanda Drechsel (Nick Schmidt), Amber (Bailey) Sorenson, Sabrina (Collin) Brown, Ashlyn  Mattson (Ryan Snyder), Haley (Tristan) Edelman, Lindsey Mattson (Andrew Lindor), Rylie Mattson, Mishayla Mattson; three great-grandchildren: Brinlee Blankhagen, Paige Mattson, and  Turner Drechsel; as well as many other beloved nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
