Three Arrested in Willmar After Shot Fired

Two 19-year-old men and a 22-year-old man from Willmar were arrested and are facing charges after allegedly firing a gun and speeding away from the scene early Friday morning.

At about 2:35am, Willmar Police were dispatched to the 1900 block of Becker Ave SE on the report of gunshots. While officers were checking the area, additional gunshots were heard nearby & a vehicle was observed leaving the area at a high rate of speed.

Eventually, officers were able to stop the vehicle and, after securing the three occupants, recovered a handgun, ammunition, a handgun magazine and an open alcohol container from the vehicle.

The three are facing possible multiple firearms charges.

The driver was also believed to be under the influence of alcohol and subsequently arrested for DUI.
