Adeline Rodella (Olson) Ellingboe

Adeline Ellingboe, age 95 of Willmar, Minnesota formerly of Milan, MN, passed away Monday, May 27, in Copper Leaf Memory Care.

Visitation for Adeline Ellingboe will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan, MN.

Funeral services for Adeline Ellingboe will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan, MN, with Pastor Timothy P. Larson officiating.

Interment will be in the Kviteseid Lutheran Cemetery.

Adeline Rodella Ellingboe was born to Richard and Agnes Jossart in Cashel Township, Swift County, on June 20, 1928, the oldest of five children. Since her father rented farmland, they often moved so Adeline attended several country schools before graduating from Benson High School in 1947. She and her siblings were involved in helping with the field work and doing chores. After graduation, Adeline worked at Red Owl in Benson and then moved to Big Bend and worked at the grocery store there.

Adeline met Art Olson at the Viking Café in Benson after the Homecoming football game her senior year in high school. They married September 4, 1948, at Immanuel Church in Benson, where she was also baptized and confirmed by H. S. Nashein. To this marriage two children were born, Linda and Lynn (Butch.)

Adeline and Art lived in Big Bend where Art had his mechanic shop until 1956, when they moved to Milan. She was employed by the Milan Standard newspaper and later became the editor. Adeline also worked as the secretary of the Kviteseid Lutheran Church and in the kitchen at Milan School.

Art passed away in 1981. In 1988, Adeline met Gene Ellingboe at a dance in Montevideo, Minnesota. They were married October 29, 1988, at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan, which added three stepdaughters to the family: Diane, Doreen, and Carol. They enjoyed several winters in Arizona before Gene passed away July 21, 2002.

Adeline continued living in Milan where she enjoyed sewing, gardening, camping, quilting, mowing, making lefse, and family gatherings. She spent many hours volunteering and helping neighbors in the community.

Due to health issues, Adeline moved to Vista Prairie at Copperleaf in Willmar in November of 2019, where she remained until her death May 27, 2024. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children.

Adeline is survived by her daughter: Linda (Vern) Broberg of Willmar, MN; and her son: Lynn (Mary) Olson of Mankato, MN; five grandchildren: Chris, Lynette (Bryan), Mitch (Tina), Stacy (Carl), and Briana; fourteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; three stepdaughters: Diane (Bob) Kruse, Doreen (Mic) Anderson, Carol (Brad) Freese; seven step-grandchildren: Heather, Tanya, Jennifer, Kelly, Breana, Kayla, and Jordan; twenty-one step-greatgrandchildren; siblings: Marilyn (Kermit) Larson, Joan Razink, Richard (Linda) Jossart, and sister-in-law Rio Kittelson.

Adeline was preceded in death by her husbands Art Olson and Gene Ellingboe, her parents Richard and Agnes Jossart, sister and brother-in-law Janet and Jerry Voorhees, in-laws: Lloyd and Marion Olson, Les Kittelson, and Delmar Razink.

Arrangements are with Zniewski Funeral Home-Vaala Chapel in Appleton, MN.
