Adrian Peterson Arrested For DWI

MINNEAPOLIS — Former Viking great Adrian Peterson faces another legal hurdle after being arrested early Friday morning for allegedly driving while intoxicated.

Hennepin County records confirm that the 40-year-old Peterson was arrested for fourth-degree DWI and booked into jail at 5:15 a.m. He was released just over two hours later at 7:30 a.m. The Minnesota State Patrol says a trooper stopped Peterson’s Audi Q5 after clocking it doing 83 mph in a 55 mph zone around 3:20 a.m. on southbound Highway 77 near 66th Street in Richfield.

Peterson is free on $4,000 bond. His next court appearance is set for May 9.

This arrest is just the latest in a string of legal woes for the former MVP. Peterson was charged with felony child abuse for using a switch to discipline his children in 2014, and most recently, he has gone to court on a number of issues, including accusations of failing to pay child support and refusing to turn over assets to pay off a debt reported at $12 million.
