AG SPRAYER TOUCHES POWER LINE IN RENVILLE COUNTY RESULTING IN TRACTOR FIRE
The Renville County Sheriff’s Office was called at 1:47 pm to a tractor fire in a field near Renville County Road 14 about two miles north of Olivia in Bird Island Township. Authorites said the tractor was connected to an agriculture sprayer with the sprayer’s boom resting on a power line. The investigation says that Michael O’Halloran of Olivia was operating the tractor and sprayer when the boom touched the energized power line. O’Halloran received a shock but was able to escape the tractor before a fire started that engulfed it. O’Halloran was taken to Olivia Hospital and Clinic for evaluation. Crews from Renville-Sibley Power Cooperative were able to de-energize the power line which allowed firefighters to put the fire out. The tractor was a total loss. Olivia Fire department, ambulance and Police department assisted at the scene.
