Air Quality Improves Across Northeastern Minnesota

Air quality is expected to remain mostly good across northeastern Minnesota today despite ongoing wildfires.

The latest smoke outlook calls for good conditions in International Falls, Ely, Grand Portage, Hibbing and Duluth. Recent rain helped clear much of the smoke from the region.

The July Lightning Incident fires may still produce visible smoke, especially if crews resume controlled burning operations.

Northwest winds could carry some smoke back toward Ely later today, with brief periods of moderate air quality possible this evening. (Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program)
