Arthur Joseph Jindra

Arthur Joseph Jindra, age 87, of Montgomery, died on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Mala Strana in New Prague. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 6 from 9am-11am with Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11am all held at Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery with Fr. Timothy Sandquist officiating. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Montgomery. Military Honors provided by the Montgomery area Veterans Honor Guard.

Arthur was born on April 7, 1937 at home in Erin Township to Edward W. and Otilia E. (Mucha) Jindra. He attended Rice County Country School District 49, Montgomery High School, and from 1955-1959 U of M in the Twin Cities where he was in the marching band and concert band. Arthur served in the United States Army for 7 years and was in the 103rd Infantry Band and marched in 40 parades each year. Arthur was united in marriage on May 9, 1959 to Jean C. Fierst at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery- always sending flowers for all 63 anniversaries, Mother’s Day, and birthdays.

He served on the HRS School Board- Built addition to St. Raphaels School, was an Erin Township Clerk for 22 years, sub on George Mucha’s Blacksmiths bowling team, Holy Redeemer Church choir in high school and later on the 7:30 a.m. choir, served as a lector, usher and Eucharistic minister, was a KC member since 1956, formed KC band which participated in Kolacky Days Parade and also played for KC dances, formed KC choir which sang for Father Loftus 1st Mass in Kilkenny, formed KC 1st Degree Team, worked in area councils, served as Grand Knight, and financial secretary for 10 years. Was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles since 1971 and an American Legion Member Post 79 for 32 years. Along with being a 2nd generation farmer, he also worked as a school bus driver for 18 plus years. He also, was an avid Green Bay Packer fan since he was 10 years old when Vince Lombardi was coach.

Arthur is survived by his pride and joy- wife, Jean Jindra of Montgomery; children, Steven (MaryKay) Jindra of Montgomery, Mary (Todd) Rousseau of Apple Valley, Michael (Julie) Jindra of New Prague, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Jindra of Kilkenny, and Jennifer (David) Turek of Montgomery; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Eva Trussell.
