Authorities Release Name of Montrose Shooting Victim
Authorities have released the name of the man shot and wounded by a Wright County Deputy outside store in Montrose on Monday afternoon.
He’s identified as 36-year-old Matthew Lyrek of Montrose and is still hospitalized after being shot multiple times outside the Dollar General store. Authorities have not said how seriously Lyrek was injured.
The Sheriff’s Office says deputies were attempting to arrest Lyrek on outstanding warrants, but he refused to comply and pulled out a gun. After the use of non-lethal force failed, deputies shot Lyrek.
The Minnesota BCA is now investigating the incident.
