BCA Identifies Man and Officer in Fatal Battle Lake Standoff

State investigators have identified the man killed and the officer who fired during an Otter Tail County standoff.

The BCA says 39-year-old Christopher Olson of Battle Lake died after Fergus Falls officer Matthew Cederberg shot him.
Investigators say Olson barricaded himself inside a rural home and fired a shotgun at an armored SWAT vehicle. Hours later, he appeared in the doorway with the shotgun, and Cederberg fired.

Cederberg is on critical-incident leave. The BCA investigation continues, with findings to be reviewed by the county attorney.
