Big Inning Sinks Twins

The Tampa Bay Rays scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and went on to beat the Minnesota Twins 9-4 last night at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. Yandy Diaz hit a two-run home run to cap the scoring in the frame, while Taylor Walls finished the night with three R-B-I. Tyler Alexander earned his sixth win in relief. The Rays have won three of five. Kyle Farmer and Carlos Santana both went deep for Minnesota, and Louie Varland fell to 0-6 after surrendering eight runs on five hits in just two-and-a-third innings. The 75-64 Twins have dropped three of five and are four-and-a-half-games behind the Guardians in the A-L Central chase. Minnesota will try to salvage a split in the four-game series with a matinee game today at 12:10 P-M. Coverage begins at 11:30am on SAM 107.3, 12:30pm on KNUJ.
