Blake Shelton To Co-Produce Keith Whitley Documentary
Blake Shelton is co-producing a documentary about Keith Whitley. Filming is set to start next month.
In Keith’s short life and three albums, he scored with major hits, including “Don’t Close Your Eyes” in 1988. He also released “When You Say Nothing at All” seven years before it was a hit for Allison Krauss. Keith Whitley died in 1989 from alcohol poisoning at age 34.
The upcoming documentary was announced on Instagram by Blake Shelton, who’s signed on to co-produce. He said, “Keith Whitley released only three albums during his life, but his music has influenced generations of country music artists. I’m proud and honored we get to bring his incredible story to film.”
They’re set to start shooting next month. Blake said it’ll include archival footage from the Country Music Hall of Fame and also from Keith’s wife Lorrie Morgan.
