Boelter Expected to Plead Guilty in Hortman/Hoffman Shootings
(Learfield News) Federal prosecutors have reached a plea agreement with Vance Luther Boelter, who is now expected to plead guilty in last year’s deadly attacks targeting two Minnesota lawmakers and their families.
Under the proposed deal, the Justice Department says it will not seek the death penalty. Boelter is accused of posing as a police officer before fatally shooting former House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, at their Brooklyn Park home last June.
Investigators say he also shot State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, at their Champlin home.
Separate state charges remain pending while the federal case moves ahead.
