Braves score 4 times in 10th to beat Twins 8-6
MINNEAPOLIS, MN – The Atlanta Braves had a dramatic 8-6 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night, scoring four runs in the 10th inning to clinch the win. Matt Olson drove in the go-ahead run with a fielder’s choice, while Travis d’Arnaud and Ramón Laureano followed with key hits to seal the game.
The Braves had initially built a 4-0 lead, but the Twins fought back to tie it up. Trevor Larnach’s RBI double in the eighth inning tied the game, although Atlanta’s Raisel Iglesias was credited with a blown save. Pierce Johnson eventually secured the win for Atlanta despite allowing two runs in the 10th inning, striking out Matt Wallner to end the game.
Michael Harris made a notable return from an injury, hitting a home run in the second inning. Marcell Ozuna also contributed significantly, adding a two-run double in the fifth inning. With this performance, Ozuna now has 98 RBIs, placing him third in the majors behind Aaron Judge and José Ramírez.
For the Twins, Larnach had a standout game with three hits and three RBIs. Despite their efforts, the Twins have now lost seven of their last nine games and are struggling in the AL Central standings.
In a quirky note, the game featured the most combined letters in the last names of starting pitchers in MLB history—28 letters from Spencer Schwellenbach and Simeon Woods Richardson.
The series finale will see Chris Sale starting for Atlanta and rookie David Festa on the mound for Minnesota.
